Keeping Busy

Keeping busy is key to my sanity. Here are things that occupy my mind so completely, i can step outside myself.

  • Drawing in many forms including realistic and cartoon/manga, then transferring these to my computer, i use pencil mostly, but like ink, conte crayon and charcoal (even though i hardly use it).
  • Jewelry making
  • Painting -- ceramic, glass and wood items, and sometimes on canvas
  • Playing with Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash and other artzy programs
  • Collecting various art projects that i have started, and will not finish for a very, very long time-
    if ever
  • Reading news under "Oddly Enough", and Entertainment
  • Connecting with other stay-at-home-moms in the area. I have joined the local MOMS Club.
  • Gaming with friends- A small group of us get together and play various board games, and soon to start a D&D campaign. we enjoy the zombie and un-dead themed games whether co-op or cut-throat. Some of the games we play are Descent, The House on Betrayal Hill, Zombies and Munchkin.
  • I do some reading, I used to do a lot, but now have a hard time concentrating. I prefer to read in bed, and complete a chapter during every session. This is hard since I can get very sleepy at times, or just don't want to read so much (my books have long chapters). Also, over the last year, I have been losing the desire to read very much. I have quite a few unfinished sitting on my nightstand. I got Steven Colbert's book "I am America, and So Can You!" and John Stewart's book "America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction" for Christmas. I have only started Colbert's, and thoroughly enjoying it. Chapters are shorter, but just don't find that "reading mood".
  • Humane Society- I volunteer at the shelter every week, and love every minute. There are so many cute animals there that I just want to take home. For one, they are adorable, and two, they are attention starved and automatically love me! It's so hard to resist their cute little faces.
